An Independence Day Open Letter for President Biden

Dear Mr. President,

Stop fretting over debate performances and shifting the conversation to authoritarianism. The Conservatives have overplayed their hand. The Supreme Court has just handed you a golden opportunity for Democracy!

President Biden, this is your moment to act. Invoke the Insurrection Act, the Patriot Act, or any other measure at your disposal. Remember your oath to protect the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Round up those threatening our democracy! Let the courts spend the next two decades ruling on your actions. The Supreme Court has affirmed your immunity. Conservatives worship a strong, decisive leader—be that leader!

Use this extreme power to restore the Constitution and the laws, ensuring real checks and balances. Return a functional government to the people.

Mr. President, act now. If the Conservatives return to power, they will have no qualms about using these measures against you and anyone who disagrees with them. They have already made their intentions clear-harassment, interment, execution their language and tools of choice. Do this for your family, for all Americans, or face the dire consequences they have threatened.

Yes, there will be chaos, but chaos is inevitable. Win or lose in November, they will continue their quest for one-party rule. Chaos can no longer be avoided; the opposition thrives on it. Mr. President, with all your political experience, knowledge, and moral compass, would it not be better for you to oversee this and lead the country to calm instead of rolling the dice with a truly immoral, unhinged, undemocratic mob that now characterizes the opposition?

The Supreme Court believes in bribery but calls it a gratuity if given after, rather than before, the self-serving action. They slice and dice the wording of laws, then argue that if no law existed before the Civil War, you cannot make a new one. They strip decision-making from experts and hand it to judges—people who have never done anything other than study the law, lacking the real-world experiences that everyday people have. This approach caters to their personal needs and they call it Constitutional Originalism. No civil, moral society can survive this method of governance while hoping to create a better world.

This will be a painful experience for the country, but we have faced such trials before. Like Abraham Lincoln, we must confront this chaos now or forever regret our inaction.

Mr. President, I pray for your decisive action. You possess the wisdom, grace, and compassion to heal this great nation. As a man of faith, know that God is calling you to this mission!

Ensure your legacy as one of the most thoughtful and experienced politicians in history. And, President Biden, your debate performance will never be mentioned again.

God bless you, Joe Biden.

With hope and urgency,
Paul Kelemencky
